A steady evening downpour threatened to derail what had been planned as a vibrant night out in Gulu, but revellers proved more resilient than the weather.
By the time the rain began falling on Saturday, the gardens at Northern Pearl Hostel were already set for the event. However, the downpour quickly disrupted the mood, sending guests scrambling for shelter as music struggled to cut through the sound of rain hitting tents and rooftops.
For a moment, it seemed the night might fizzle out before it even began.
But as the rain gradually eased, so did the uncertainty. Small groups began stepping back into the open, conversations picked up, and the music slowly reclaimed its place at the centre of the experience. What started as a near washout transformed into a lively gathering.
The introduction of the new “captains” — Jerry Berry, Jokwiz Klean, and Abbey Tumusiime — unfolded not as a polished showcase, but as an organic recovery that resonated with the crowd.
Rather than reset the mood, the trio leaned into the moment, using dance routines, interactive games and high energy to pull people back in. The shift was gradual but effective, as the space filled up once again and the earlier disruption turned into a shared experience.
By the time the gardens were packed, the rain had become part of the night’s narrative, something revellers joked about rather than worried over.
Later, DJ Wiz J took control of the decks, maintaining momentum and ensuring the energy carried through without interruption.
Reflecting on the night, brand manager Raymond Karama described the experience as a test of resilience.
“Gulu was the ultimate test of our crew’s spirit. We sailed through a storm early on, but the persistence of our fans proved why the vibe is unsinkable. We are proud of what we saw and now set our sights on Nkozi and Vibez Nzuri next week,” he said.
What began as a rain-soaked uncertainty ultimately turned into a testament to the city’s nightlife spirit — proof that even unpredictable weather cannot easily wash away a determined crowd.
