On Saturday, May 2, Aura Lounge pulsed with a different kind of energy as it celebrated its second anniversary in style.
Revelers filled the venue to capacity, drawn by a high-profile lineup headlined by the globally recognized South African DJ and producer DJ Maphorisa.
From early in the night, the mood was set as partygoers sang along to popular amapiano anthems, their voices rising in unison and turning the celebration into a shared musical experience.
The anniversary party unfolded as a blend of elegance and indulgence. Summer dresses, denim couture, and premium bottle service defined the scene, reinforcing Aura’s status as one of Kampala’s top-tier nightlife destinations.
For many in attendance, the night was as much about reflection as it was about celebration. Over time, Aura has grown beyond a bar and lounge into a social hub, a place where friendships are formed and memories made. That journey was visibly honoured through banners and visuals showcasing signature events like One-Off Tuesdays, Ignite Fridays, and Chop Life Sundays, hosted by Sheilah Gashumba.
The red carpet drew Kampala’s fashionable elite, with guests making bold style statements and dramatic entrances that matched the scale of the occasion.
Throughout the night, Don Julio elevated the experience with premium hospitality and theatrical bottle presentations. Waitresses delivered bottles with illuminated displays, punctuated by the now-familiar “Dorime” and “RIP” sound effects, adding flair to each moment.
Speaking at the event, Judie Nandekya, Senior Brand Manager for Tequila and Rum East Africa, described the collaboration as seamless.
“Partnering with Aura Lounge always comes naturally for us. Seeing them commemorate two years makes us proud. We are happy that we have walked an amazing journey with them as valued partners. The music lineup featured a mix of Afro-electronic, Afro-house, hip hop, and dancehall, with sets from DJs including City Girl, Selector Jay, DJ Jose, and DJ Dash, alongside Don Julio ambassadors DJ Spinny and Sheilah Gashumba.
In the early hours of Sunday morning, DJ Maphorisa took over the decks, injecting fresh energy into the crowd. Moving seamlessly across amapiano, gqom, Afro-house, and soulful club sounds, his set was marked by precision and crowd awareness, building anticipation before delivering explosive drops that had the entire venue in sync.
By the time the music wound down, the crowd was spent but satisfied, bringing to a close a night that celebrated not just an anniversary, but Aura’s growing legacy in Kampala’s nightlife scene.
