Vinka has opened up about the local artists who have shaped her journey and motivated her to keep pushing in the music industry.
Speaking during an interview on the NOW Media Ug podcast, Vinka revealed that legendary vocalist Iryn Namubiru tops her list of inspirations. According to her, it’s not just Namubiru’s powerful voice that stands out, but also her life story.
Vinka shared that reading Iryn Namubiru’s book gave her a deeper appreciation of the singer’s resilience and journey to success.
“To go through all that and come out to be a star, it’s wow,” Vinka said, expressing admiration for the challenges Namubiru overcame to remain relevant.
Vinka also highlighted Cindy Sanyu as another major influence in her career. She noted that her love for Cindy dates back to her school days, where she would often perform her songs.
Vinka fondly recalled a moment in Senior Three when music groups like Vamposs and Keko visited her school, and she took the opportunity to perform Cindy’s part.

In addition, Vinka pointed to Sheebah Karungi as a source of inspiration, praising her energy and compelling life story.
She explained that Sheebah’s journey resonates deeply with her, especially considering the struggles she faced before rising to fame.
Her singing is full of energy and when you listen to her story, it has a lot of ‘oh, really?!’ so you feel for her and now that she made it, also built her own house, such stories are beautiful.
