Songstress Sheebah Karungi has informed court that she will not be physically present for the upcoming mediation in her legal dispute with Team No Sleep (TNS), but is ready to attend the proceedings virtually.
According to a letter dated May 6, 2026, filed by her lawyers, SM & Co. Advocates, the singer is scheduled to travel out of the country ahead of the mediation set for May 22 at the High Court of Uganda. Her legal team has therefore requested that she be allowed to participate online, noting that she remains fully committed to the process.
The case pits TNS Entertainment Limited, led by Jeff Kiwa, against Sheebah and Ziki Holdings Pvt Limited, in what has become one of the most closely watched disputes in Uganda’s entertainment industry.
Sheebah’s fallout with TNS dates back several years, following her highly publicised exit from the label that played a significant role in her rise to fame. Once considered one of Uganda’s most successful artist–manager partnerships, the relationship between Sheebah and Jeff Kiwa later deteriorated, with both sides taking different professional paths.
Over time, lingering contractual and financial disagreements are understood to have escalated into legal action, bringing the matter before the Commercial Division of the High Court. The current mediation is part of efforts to reach an out-of-court settlement.
Court-annexed mediation is typically aimed at helping disputing parties find common ground without proceeding to a full trial. In this case, Sheebah’s willingness to attend virtually signals an interest in resolving the matter, even as logistical constraints keep her away physically.
Her lawyers emphasised that the request is purely procedural and should not be interpreted as a reluctance to engage. Instead, they argue, virtual participation would ensure the mediation proceeds without delay.
The case continues to attract attention within Uganda’s music circles, not only because of the personalities involved but also due to its potential implications for artist management contracts and industry standards.
Observers say the outcome could shape how future agreements between artists and labels are structured, particularly around rights, revenue sharing, and exit clauses.
For now, all eyes remain on whether the court will grant Sheebah permission to attend the mediation online—and whether the two sides can finally find a resolution to a dispute that has lingered for years.
