Media personality Sheila Gashumba has urged the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) to consider sports journalist Andrew Kabuura for a tourism ambassadorial role following his recent appearance on an international football broadcast panel.
Andrew Kabuura recently hosted a UEFA Champions League semi-final analysis show alongside football legends, including former Chelsea F.C. star Salomon Kalou, earning praise from Ugandans online for representing the country on a global platform
According to Sheila Gashumba, Kabuura stood out not only for his football analysis but also for incorporating multiple African languages into the broadcast. During one of the shows, he reportedly signed off in Luganda and Swahili before later adding Runyankole, during commentary surrounding the Arsenal – Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain F.C. and FC Bayern Munich clashes.

Taking to social media, Sheila praised Kabuura’s efforts in promoting regional identity and culture through sports broadcasting while warning Uganda not to overlook his value.
“Uganda Tourism Board will see Rwanda Tourism Board make Andrew Kabuura an Ambassador for Rwanda then Ugandans start making noise!! UTB jump on Andrew real quick!! Don’t say I didn’t warn you! Guys in Rwanda move quick when it comes to marketing their country! Byebyo! Goodnight,” she posted.
lol then you should ask around how much money is allocated to Ministry of Tourism and The Ugandan tourism board to market Uganda from Uganda’s budget ??Mafias are busy eating the money instead of paying and appointing people like Andrew Kabuura?? https://t.co/6MYzlB7wqG

Her comments have since sparked debate online, with many agreeing that Kabuura’s growing continental visibility makes him a strong candidate for tourism and cultural promotion. Others praised him for naturally marketing Ugandan identity through language and personality during international sports coverage.
Finally Andrew Kabuura remembered his roots.
Now the “entitled” group can speak ?
