Minister Barugahara unfazed about cabinet reappointment

State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi has said he is not concerned about whether he will be reappointed to cabinet, insisting that his success and wealth were established long before he joined government.

Speaking during an interview on UBC TV, Barugahara explained that he is comfortable with whatever decision is made regarding his political future because he remains a successful businessman.

I don’t mind if I am not a minister, or a member of parliament; I am a successful businessman. I am a medium taxpayer.

I am not a millionaire; I am a billionaire. I became a minister when I was a billionaire. It’s the reason why I pay taxes.

Barugahara noted that he has always understood that cabinet positions are temporary and should not define a person’s life or success.

The minister further revealed that even after joining government, he continued supervising and monitoring his businesses to ensure they remained stable and productive.

Barugahara was appointed State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs in 2024 and has since been vocal on issues concerning youth empowerment and development.
