Mikie Wine shares untold story of Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu’s short-lived music career

Many Ugandans know Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu as a political mobilizer and outspoken public figure, but few are aware that he once explored a music career.

Singer Mikie Wine, born Michael Mukwaya, recently revealed that his elder brother previously tried his hand at singing during his early years.

According to Mikie Wine, Nyanzi possessed impressive vocal ability and even operated a disco entertainment business known as Fredo Disco.

However, his musical journey was cut short after the equipment at the disco was reportedly stolen, forcing him to abandon the venture.

“Chairman Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu also took a shot at music. He had the vocals and owned a discotheque called Fredo Disco. Unfortunately, his machines were stolen, and he didn’t last long in the industry.”

Using the story as inspiration, the singer encouraged creatives never to allow criticism or doubt to derail their ambitions.

Never permit anyone to undermine your hustle or talent in this world. There are many ways to succeed. No one has the guarantee that if you don’t do things their way, you won’t make it. We have been dissed many times, but look how far we have come.
