Former presidential candidate Hon. Mubarak Munyagwa has dismissed circulating rumors suggesting that he could replace Hon. Balaam Barugahara as State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs.
Responding to the reports, Munyagwa called for respect to be accorded to his political stature, arguing that the speculation undermines his credentials as a former presidential contender.
“I deserve some respect. How do you overlook a whole presidential material like that? Someone who contested for the highest office in the land, then rumors emerge claiming he is being considered to replace a minister. How does that even sound?”
Munyagwa further highlighted his political résumé, noting that he previously served as Mayor of Kawempe, Member of Parliament for Kawempe South, and Chairperson of Parliament’s Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE).
According to him, the leadership positions he attained through years of public service should not be trivialized by speculation linking him to what he described as a downgrade in political standing.
The Munyagwa you are talking about is a former Mayor of Kawempe, former MP for Kawempe South, and former Chairperson of COSASE. When such claims arise, they overlook my political journey and achievements.
It remains unclear whether the reports hold any truth. However, clarity is expected once the new Cabinet is officially unveiled following the swearing-in of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
