The Ugandan entertainment industry is mourning the death of celebrated actress and radio personality Salome Bwamimpeke, popularly known as Sally Bwamimpeke, whose passing has left colleagues, fans, and loved ones in deep sorrow.
Sally rose to prominence through her memorable role as Jasmine in the popular television drama series Prestige, a performance that cemented her place among Uganda’s admired screen talents. Reports surrounding her death link the cause to breast cancer.
The news of her passing was confirmed by veteran actor John Segawa, who paid tribute to her in an emotional post shared on X.
“It’s with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Salome ‘Sally’ Bwamimpeke. A great actress, mother, and friend with a beautiful smile,” Segawa wrote.
“I watched you join this industry as a young girl. Beyond Borderz Entertainment and all your fans will miss you deeply. Sleep well, Sally.”

Beyond acting, Sally was also a familiar voice on Ugandan radio. She previously worked on Capital FM Uganda’s Overdrive show alongside Gaetano Kaggwa and also featured on Beat FM’s Sambagala show.
Throughout her career, she worked alongside some of the biggest names in Uganda’s film industry, including Mariam Ndagire, helping shape her reputation as one of the industry’s respected talents.
By the time of her passing, Sally had been living in Toronto, where she relocated in 2023.
Since news of her death emerged, fellow actors, friends, fans, and relatives have flooded social media with heartfelt tributes, remembering her warmth, talent, and contribution to Uganda’s growing film and television industry.
