Charles Olim, popularly known as Sipapa, remains in legal trouble as court proceedings against him and his wife Shamira Rukia Nakiyemba continue to unfold.
Sipapa and Nakiyemba are facing multiple criminal charges, and fresh testimony presented in court has added a new twist to the case.
During the latest hearing, a prosecution witness told court that the gold at the center of the case was not genuine and was considered invalid in quality.
The testimony prompted the presiding judge to adjourn the matter to Thursday, May 21, to allow another witness to appear and present further evidence.
Following the adjournment, the couple was remanded back to Luzira Prison as investigations and witness presentations continue.
The two were initially arrested on September 6, 2022, by Uganda’s Directorate of Crime Intelligence following a manhunt.
They were subsequently charged with six counts of aggravated robbery and have since been making repeated court appearances as the case progresses.
Court proceedings are expected to resume tomorrow when the prosecution presents another witness as both sides continue to argue their case.
