Veteran Ugandan dancehall singer Peter Miles is mourning the heartbreaking loss of his beloved mother, Ms. Elizabeth Sserunkuuma Kanyike, who passed away at the age of 81.
According to family information shared by the singer, Ms. Kanyike breathed her last on May 23, 2026, after battling health challenges at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala.
The devastating news was announced by the artiste, born Peter Kanyike, through his social media platforms, drawing an outpouring of condolences and messages of comfort from fans, friends and members of the entertainment fraternity.
Known for his contribution to Uganda’s dancehall music scene over the years, Peter Miles shared burial arrangements as family members, friends and well-wishers prepare to accord his mother a dignified send-off.
According to the funeral programme, a requiem service for the late Ms. Elizabeth Sserunkuuma Kanyike will be held at St. Mark’s Church Namata on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, starting at 10:00am.
After the church service, mourners will gather at the family home in Baita Ababiri, Kabale-Entebbe, for a vigil as relatives, friends and supporters come together to pay their last respects.
Ms. Kanyike will then be laid to rest in Muduuma-Walukunyu on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 4:00pm.
Her passing marks a difficult moment for the singer and his family, with many fans taking to social media to stand in solidarity with the veteran musician during this time of grief.
