Finding a job in Uganda is already hard enough.
But according to Douglas Lwanga, scammers are now turning that desperation into business.
The media personality sounded the alarm on X while warning job seekers about the growing number of fake opportunities targeting unemployed Ugandans, especially young people desperate for work.
Some scammers, he explained, pose as job recruitment companies and ask victims to pay registration fees ranging between UGX 50,000 and UGX 100,000, only for the promised opportunities to never materialize.
Others call pretending to help process TIN numbers for supposed job openings, despite the service being completely free.
Douglas also warned about brokers who claim to know HR managers or bosses inside companies and ask struggling job seekers for money in exchange for connections and recommendations.
In some situations, he revealed, the exploitation goes beyond money, especially for young women trying to secure employment.
