Comedy Store Uganda, the nation’s premier comedy platform, has announced the postponement of its highly awaited 10th-anniversary celebrations, originally slated for June 5 at the Cricket Oval, Lugogo.
The dramatic halt follows urgent consultations between event organizers and officials from the Ministry of Health. In a statement released to the public, organizers confirmed that the decision was a proactive, precautionary measure driven by the ongoing Ebola outbreak in the country.
“After careful consultations with officials from the Ministry of Health, we sincerely regret to inform you that the Comedy Store 10th Anniversary Celebrations have been postponed,” the official statement read.
Public health authorities have continuously urged strict caution regarding massive public gatherings as the country fights to contain the virus. For an event expected to draw thousands of comedy enthusiasts, socialites, and regional celebrities, the decision marks a painful but necessary pivot from celebration to public safety.
The postponement is a heavy blow to the entertainment industry and fans alike. Over the last decade, Comedy Store has been instrumental in shaping Uganda’s creative economy and launching the careers of countless comedic talents.
The milestone gala promised an unprecedented, star-studded lineup of regional heavyweights, including: Diamond Platnumz, The Ben, Rema, John Blaq, Winnie Nwagi, Lydia Jazmine, and Fik Fameica, as well as comedy heavyweights like Eric Omondi, Salvador, Mariachi, Madrat & Chiko, and Teacher Mpamiire.
Organizers emphasized that the health of audiences, performers, and staff remains the absolute priority. However, they reassured disappointed fans that the milestone event is not canceled. A fresh date will be announced as soon as health officials give the all-clear.
