Media personality and DJ Lynda Ddane has made it clear that she will not be joining the growing trend of female DJs dancing while performing Amapiano sets.
Lynda, who has expanded her career from radio, television, and emceeing into professional deejaying, says she wants audiences to focus on her skills behind the decks rather than her dance moves.
Speaking to a YouTuber, Lynda explained that although she knows how to dance, she deliberately chooses not to make it part of her performances.
That’s not what I want people to see me as. I want them to come and hear what I have. You can’t ask me to come and play for you and then ask me to dance yet you aren’t telling the man (male deejays) to do the same thing.
The DJ argued that there is a double standard in the entertainment industry where female DJs are often expected to do more than their male counterparts in order to entertain crowds.
According to Lynda, event organizers frequently expect female DJs to not only perform but also dance for audiences, something she strongly disagrees with.
I fought so hard for people to respect me as a DJ not as a dancer or whatever.
Lynda maintained that if dancing is considered part of a DJ’s job, then the same expectations should apply equally to both male and female DJs.
