Lynda Ddane opens up on health battle, painful HIV rumours – Sqoop

For many people scrolling through social media, it may have looked like just another celebrity transformation to discuss. For media personality and DJ Lynda Ddane, however, the public commentary came during one of the most difficult periods of her life.

Appearing on Frank Ntambi’s YouTube show, Ddane opened up about quietly battling serious health complications at a time when social media users were busy speculating about her appearance.

The broadcaster revealed that she has lived with asthma for years, but her condition later developed into arrhythmia, a heart rhythm disorder that significantly affected her health and contributed to dramatic weight loss.

As her slimmer appearance became more noticeable, online speculation intensified. Some social media users went as far as claiming she was living with HIV/AIDS.

“They were saying I had HIV/AIDS, but I have never had it in my life,” Ddane said.

At the time, she explained, responding to online criticism was the least of her concerns. Her focus was survival and recovery.

“I focused on fixing my medical issues and not my appearance. It didn’t matter to me because what good is it to look beautiful if you are dead? My health had to come first at that point,” she said.

Behind the scenes, Ddane says she was dealing with far more than the public could see. While critics freely commented on her body, they were unaware of the emotional toll, uncertainty, and private struggles she was navigating.

Like many public figures, she found herself confronting an uncomfortable reality of fame: people often judge situations they do not fully understand.

Determined to regain her strength, Ddane explored different options to restore her health, including trying weight-gain supplements. Over time, her condition improved, and the weight gradually returned.

Yet even then, public commentary did not stop.

“I gained weight, and they talked. I do not have an explanation for that because that is a bodily thing,” she said.

For Ddane, the turning point came when she stopped obsessing over public opinion and focused instead on her personal healing and peace of mind.

“My weight just came back when I stopped thinking about it,” she explained.

Her experience shines a light on the pressures public figures face in an era where social media commentary often overshadows empathy, turning private struggles into public speculation.
