Royalty row takes new twist as Cindy receives split sheet – Sqoop

The royalty dispute between singers Cindy Sanyu and Omega 256 appears to have taken a new turn after Cindy confirmed that she had finally received her share of the royalties from their collaboration, See You Tonight.

Earlier this week, Cindy accused Omega 256 of unfairly handling the song’s ownership and altering their agreed royalty arrangement. The veteran singer claimed that what was supposed to be a 50-50 split had instead been changed to a 60-40 arrangement in Omega’s favour.

Cindy also alleged that she financed the production process while Omega’s contribution was limited to recording vocals.

However, following days of public debate, screenshots shared by Cindy showed that she had been added to the royalty splits on digital distribution platform DistroKid.

In another message posted online, Cindy thanked her supporters, revealing that she had finally received the split sheet reflecting the agreed 50 percent allocation.

“After all the pressure you put on this woman, she finally did the right thing and sent me the split sheet with the 50% allocation. Before this she had been getting her 60% and also the 40% which belonged to me according to our agreement. God is faithful,” Cindy wrote.

Before the latest development, Omega 256 had dismissed Cindy’s allegations as false and challenged her to provide proof of the claims she made regarding the song’s production expenses.

Omega further maintained that the accusations had damaged her reputation and music brand, while expressing disappointment that the dispute involved someone she considered both a friend and colleague.

The disagreement sparked widespread debate among fans on social media, with supporters of both artists weighing in on the issue.

Although Cindy’s latest revelation suggests progress in resolving the royalty matter, neither artist has indicated whether their strained relationship has been repaired.
