Singer Daniel Kazibwe, popularly known as Ragga Dee, believes veteran singer Mesach Semakula may no longer be willing to support fellow musicians facing challenges in the future.
Ragga Dee’s remarks stem from Semakula’s reaction and emotional statements during the burial of the late Master Parrot in Kamengo, Butembe, Mpigi District, a few days ago.
Reflecting on the incident, Ragga Dee quoted a popular saying, noting that self-pity and self-praise often create problems.
The aggressiveness and bitterness that Mesach Semakula expressed at Master Parrot’s burial made me feel like he may not help another struggling musician again.
In fact, I might end up taking the same direction. After we play our role and offer support, it’s disappointing to hear someone take the microphone and tell a completely different story from what actually happened.
Semakula’s reaction came after Denis Lanek criticized veteran musicians for allegedly failing to stand with the late Master Parrot during his difficult moments.
The accusation did not sit well with several artists, prompting Semakula to respond strongly.
Ragga Dee has since urged individuals who share Lanek’s mindset to rethink their approach.
He advised people to be more observant and thoughtful before making public statements, warning that careless remarks can discourage those who are capable and willing to support people in need.
