I woke up to the message too — Shakib reacts to Zari split announcement – Sqoop

Hours after Zari Hassan announced the end of their marriage, Shakib Cham says he was just as surprised by the statement as everyone else.

Earlier in the day, Zari shared a statement on her social media platforms announcing that she and Shakib had decided to part ways after five years together, citing irreconcilable differences.

However, speaking to Galaxy FM after the announcement, Shakib suggested that he had not been involved in issuing the statement and only became aware of it after seeing it online.

“I also woke up and saw the message just like you did. I’ve been busy, so I haven’t analysed the message yet, but when I settle, I will analyse it well and see what’s up,” Shakib said.

His remarks appear to contradict the wording of the statement posted on Zari’s pages, which was framed as a joint decision reached after “much thought and reflection.”

The statement further indicated that the couple had agreed to separate amicably and would continue to maintain mutual respect and understanding.

Shakib’s response has now raised fresh questions about whether the announcement reflected a mutual decision or was made unilaterally.

Zari and Shakib’s relationship had been one of East Africa’s most closely followed celebrity unions, with the pair frequently sharing moments from their marriage on social media.

As of publication, Zari had not publicly addressed Shakib’s comments.
