Secular-turned-gospel singer Grace Nakimera has revealed what fans should expect at her upcoming The Power of Grace concert, particularly regarding the songs she plans to perform.
Nakimera will stage the concert on September 11, and given her born-again status, many fans have been wondering whether she will still perform some of the secular hits that made her one of Uganda’s most celebrated female artists.
Speaking in a recent television interview, the singer made it clear that she intends to perform both her gospel and secular songs, saying they are all part of her journey and identity.
“All the songs are mine, and they define who I really am,” she said.
Grace Nakimera enjoyed massive success during her secular music career, releasing several dancehall hits that remain popular among fans. However, she later embraced Christianity and transitioned into full-time ministry, a move that also transformed her lifestyle.
While promising an exciting performance, Nakimera emphasized that fans should not expect the revealing outfits that once characterized some of her stage appearances.
“I do not need to be indecent. Besides, I’m now all grown up. How will you see me naked? It would be so embarrassing for me. I can dress modestly and at the same time deliver an amazing performance,” she said.
The singer also called upon members of the Christian community to guide her on how they would like to see her present herself during the concert.
“I call upon every born-again Christian to comment and maybe give me direction on what I should do and which version of Grace they want to see. I see this as a job, and all the songs are mine. No one is demanding me,” she added.
The Power of Grace concert will take place on September 11 at Kampala Serena Hotel.
