Media personality Kasuku has cast doubt on singer Grace Nakimera’s claims that alleged witchcraft attacks forced her out of secular music, maintaining that her departure was motivated by better opportunities elsewhere.
Nakimera recently opened up about her decision to leave the mainstream music scene, saying she endured repeated spiritual attacks that eventually made her fear for her safety. According to the singer, the situation became so severe that she felt compelled to abandon her music career.
Kasuku, however, believes there is more to the story. Speaking on the matter, he argued that Nakimera simply moved on after securing a more rewarding career path outside the entertainment industry.
“No one bewitched Grace Nakimera. She should tell people the truth. She found a job that paid better than music and chose to pursue it,” Kasuku said.
He went on to suggest that Nakimera’s upcoming concert could benefit from support from non-governmental organisations, adding that the event may already be close to selling out.
“People will see it at her concert when NGOs support it. Her show could already be sold out. She should stop using that narrative and be honest,” he added.
Kasuku also called on public figures to ensure their personal stories are accurate, especially when sharing experiences intended to motivate young girls and women.
“When you’re inspiring the girl child, make sure you tell the real story,” he said.
Meanwhile, Nakimera previously stated that although she believes she knows the person responsible for the alleged attacks, she chose to forgive rather than seek revenge.
The singer further warned that many people in society, particularly within Kampala’s social and entertainment circles, may harbour negative intentions toward others.
“You either become a prayer warrior or choose witchcraft—you have to decide. I chose prayer. I know who bewitched me, and it’s a woman,” Nakimera said.
The differing views from the two personalities have sparked debate among fans, with some supporting Nakimera’s testimony while others agree with Kasuku’s assessment that financial and career considerations influenced her decision to leave secular music.
