The Comedy Festival 2026 press conference turned lively after comedians Bobi Brown and Nilo Nilo declared themselves among the biggest names in Uganda’s comedy industry and challenged their rivals to prove otherwise.
The duo boldly crowned themselves the “Prime Ministers of Comedy” and claimed many of today’s comedians built their careers by borrowing from the style they pioneered.

Without a doubt, Bobi Brown and I are the Prime Ministers of comedy in Uganda.
Nilo Nilo argued that a generation of comedians has followed a path he and his comic partner helped create.
Today, all upcoming comedians who joined the comedy industry are trying to copy or imitate us.
But the pair did not stop at claiming influence. They also challenged fellow comedians to step forward and prove they deserve a place in the conversation about comedy greatness.
While acknowledging Mariachi as Uganda’s comedy king, Bobi Brown insisted that he and Nilo Nilo belong among the country’s elite performers.
Apart from Mariachi, who is the king, we are challenging all comedians to stand up and prove their greatness if they can challenge us.
Bobi Brown then turned his attention to Maulana & Reign, who recently called for a comedy battle with Amooti Omubalanguzi of the Amarula Family.
Instead of facing Amooti, Bobi Brown believes they should test themselves against him and Nilo Nilo.

Maulana & Reign, instead of asking for a battle with Amooti, should face us so that we settle this battle for greatness.
The remarks sparked loud reactions inside the press conference, with some attendees cheering the challenge while others laughed off the comedians’ claims.
Whether the showdown happens or not, the pair have succeeded in reigniting the debate over who truly sits at the top of Uganda’s comedy scene.
