Veteran singer Bebe Cool has sparked debate after revealing that he secretly conducted DNA tests on all five of his children to confirm their paternity.
The surprising confession came during a recent interview, where the Gagamel boss explained that the decision had little to do with mistrust of his wife, Zuena Kirema, and more to do with his own desire for certainty.
According to Bebe Cool, growing conversations around paternity disputes and the increasing number of shocking DNA-related stories prompted him to seek answers for himself.
“I got all my kids and took them to my personal doctor and asked him to carry out DNA tests,” he revealed.
The singer admitted that he never informed Zuena about the exercise beforehand. Instead, he quietly arranged for the samples to be collected and waited for the results before breaking the news to her.
Recalling the moment, Bebe Cool said his wife remained surprisingly calm.
“Hmmm, aren’t all the kids yours?” she reportedly asked after learning what he had done.
Bebe Cool said he assured her that the results had confirmed exactly that before showing her the reports.
The singer maintained that every man should be certain about the children he is raising and also plan for the future by preparing a will.
“As a man you have to make sure all the kids are yours and two, you have to have a will. Those two are very crucial. When you hit the fourth floor, you start thinking and many things are happening in Uganda, so you’re better off knowing the truth,” he said.
Bebe Cool and Zuena have been together for more than two decades and are widely regarded as one of Uganda’s most enduring celebrity couples. Together, they have raised five children and built a family admired by many across East Africa.
His revelation has since divided opinion online, with some social media users applauding him for seeking peace of mind, while others questioned why he felt the need to conduct the tests in secret despite consistently speaking highly of his wife and their marriage.
Whatever the public thinks, Bebe Cool says he now has something many men crave but few talk about openly: certainty.
