My wife is emotional – Shakib addresses split reports, insists marriage to Zari is not over – Sqoop

Days after businesswoman and socialite Zari Hassan announced that she and husband Shakib Cham Lutaaya had parted ways, Shakib has moved to downplay reports that their marriage has collapsed, insisting the couple is simply going through challenges that can be resolved.

Speaking in an interview with Sanyuka TV, Shakib dismissed the widespread speculation surrounding their relationship, arguing that disagreements are a normal part of marriage and should not automatically be interpreted as a permanent separation.

“If a woman leaves a family, it does not mean total separation and there is always a possibility of reunion; and the chances for reunion are even higher when there is love between the couple,” he said.

“It is a matter of discussing and resolving the issues.”

His remarks come days after Zari shared a statement on social media announcing that the pair had decided to go their separate ways after five years together due to what she described as irreconcilable differences.

The statement, which appeared to have been endorsed by both parties, indicated that they had chosen different paths while maintaining mutual respect for one another.

However, Shakib believes the situation has been blown out of proportion because their relationship is constantly under public scrutiny.

“What’s happening in our relationship happens in all relationships because most are not in the media,” he said.

The businessman also suggested that emotions may have played a role in the public announcement.

“My wife is emotional. I know this better as her husband than anyone else,” he said.

“Something small will trigger her, sometimes into doing something regrettable out of anger.”

Shakib further revealed that communication between them never stopped, even after the breakup statement surfaced online.

“So, there was never a separation; even the day she posted about the breakup, we continued to chat,” he said.

Zari and Shakib formalised their relationship through an Islamic Nikah ceremony in South Africa in April 2023 before later holding a white wedding. Their marriage has remained in the spotlight, partly because of Zari’s previous high-profile relationship with Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz.

While Zari has yet to comment on Shakib’s latest remarks, his comments suggest he is leaving the door open for reconciliation, maintaining that love and communication still exist between them despite the recent turbulence.
