Ugandan Afro-pop singer Akisa believes women should never feel pressured to abandon their dreams or careers simply because they are in a relationship.
While making it clear that she has nothing against dating, Akisa said some women end up sacrificing their ambitions after meeting partners who try to control their lives.
Drawing from her own experience, she revealed that she once dated a man who wanted her to quit music and focus entirely on their relationship.

I do not stop anyone from dating, but I want a woman to also follow her dreams and career. I have been in a relationship where a guy tried to control me, telling me, ‘Leave the music. I want you to focus.’ I was like, ‘Boy, go do your thing. Let me do my thing.’
Akisa said she still believes in love but wants a partner who supports her ambitions instead of expecting her to settle down or walk away from her career.

I am open to love. I love love, but I would love someone who supports my career. Someone who pushes me, not someone who tells me I have to settle.
Her past relationship has not changed her outlook on love. In fact, she revealed that she is currently in a relationship.
I am in love.
I don’t stop anyone from dating, okay? But I also want women to follow their dreams and pursue their careers.- Akisa #NBSAfter5 #NBSUpdates pic.twitter.com/bsfXVBxXxv
