Cindy Dismisses Retirement Calls, Eyes More Decades in Music

For Cindy Sanyu, the conversation around retirement misses the point entirely.

The celebrated singer says she has never viewed growing older as a reason to stop making music. Instead, she believes every chapter of life calls for a different version of the artist.

Speaking on NRG Radio, Cindy said retirement, as she sees it, has nothing to do with leaving the industry.

I do not think about retiring. My retirement is changing style, changing the branding and understanding where I am in life, not quitting music.

It is a philosophy she has held consistently since last year, when she rejected the idea that turning 40 meant slowing down.

People ask me all the time, “Cindy, you are 40 now. When are you going to slow down? Maybe think about retirement?” Retirement? Please. I am just getting started. There is too much art to make, too many minds to collaborate with.

Looking ahead, Cindy hopes to remain on stage even in her seventies.

She believes longevity in music is not about resisting age but about embracing change without losing the passion that first brought her to the microphone.
