For years, fans have wondered why two of Uganda’s biggest music stars have never released a song together.
As it turns out, the collaboration has come much closer to happening than many people realise.
Speaking during an interview on NRG Radio, Cindy Sanyu revealed that she and Bebe Cool have stepped into the studio together several times, only for each attempt to fall apart before reaching the finish line.
One of those sessions dates back to her hit song Ndi Mukodo, which she initially imagined as a collaboration featuring both Bebe Cool and Navio.
According to Cindy, Bebe Cool liked the idea but felt the song needed more work before he could commit to it.
The pair returned to the studio on other occasions, sometimes even bringing in additional songwriters, but the same challenge kept resurfacing.
Rather than forcing a release, Cindy says both artists chose to walk away whenever they felt a song had not reached the standard they wanted.
I am sure it is coming. One day we will sit on a beat, both agree on it, and release it. He respects me a lot, and I respect him too.
Although she once joked that Bebe Cool would be the only artist she could imagine facing in another music battle, Cindy made it clear that she has no interest in revisiting that chapter of her career.
These days, she would rather create music with fellow artists than compete against them, and she believes the long-awaited collaboration with Bebe Cool will eventually happen when the right song comes along.
