Joshua Baraka may be performing on bigger stages and reaching audiences far beyond Uganda, but on Friday evening the fast-rising singer chose to celebrate the people who have supported him from the very beginning.
The Wrong Places hitmaker hosted Intimate Vibes, a private acoustic session at Kardamom & Koffee in Kololo, bringing together a select group of his earliest supporters for an evening centered on music, storytelling and genuine connection.
Unlike conventional concerts, the invite-only event was deliberately stripped back. There were no elaborate stage effects or flashy production—just Baraka, a live acoustic band and an audience that has followed his journey since his earliest releases.
The relaxed outdoor setting created the perfect backdrop for the singer to revisit songs from his debut album, JUVIE, in a fresh and more personal way. With the acoustic arrangements taking center stage, the performances highlighted the emotion behind the lyrics and showcased a more vulnerable side of his artistry.
Fans responded enthusiastically, singing along to nearly every track and transforming the performance into an intimate shared experience rather than a traditional concert.
One of the evening’s biggest highlights came before Baraka officially took to the stage. As a gesture of appreciation to his loyal fan base, he premiered several unreleased songs, giving attendees an exclusive preview of music that has yet to be released on streaming platforms.
The surprise generated excitement throughout the audience, with fans becoming the first to hear material that offers a glimpse into the next phase of Baraka’s musical journey.
Some of the unreleased tracks were developed during recent songwriting and recording camps, including collaborations with fellow singer Elijah Kitaka, hinting at an evolving sound as Baraka continues to experiment creatively.
Beyond the music, the singer spent time engaging directly with fans, sharing stories behind some of his songs, answering questions and joking with attendees in a relaxed atmosphere that reflected the purpose of the event.
Baraka has previously spoken about his preference for smaller performances, saying intimate settings allow him to build a stronger connection with audiences.
“I always prefer performing in intimate spaces because I get to look at the people connecting with the music, joke around with them and truly feel the room,” he has said.
