Why Tracy Melon Takes Comparisons as a Compliment

Tracy Melon has no desire to distance herself from comparisons with Ava Peace and Winnie Wa Mummy. In fact, she welcomes them.

Barely a year and a half after her mainstream breakthrough, the fast-rising singer says she considers those comparisons a compliment because they place her alongside artists whose work she respects.

Speaking on Deep Talk, Tracy said she has never understood why artists should feel offended when listeners compare them to other musicians.

I have no problem being compared as long as you are comparing me with good people.

For her, Ava Peace and Winnie Wa Mummy have earned that respect through years of consistency and hard work.

They have been on the scene for years. They have worked so hard to get where they are. They are very talented artists, so I do not take comparison negatively.

As her catalogue continues to grow, Tracy believes listeners will come to know her for who she is.

Until then, she is content to let her music, and the conversation around it, evolve naturally.
