Just days after falling below the $1 trillion mark, Elon Musk is a trillionaire again.
The Tesla and SpaceX chief executive regained the milestone after a surge in the value of both companies added more than $60 billion to his fortune, according to Forbes’ real-time billionaire estimates.
The rebound comes less than a week after Musk’s net worth fell to about $957 billion following a decline in SpaceX’s share price and new restrictions affecting his Tesla equity holdings.
The latest rally erased much of those losses, pushing Musk’s fortune back above $1 trillion and restoring his status as the world’s first and only known trillionaire.
Most of Musk’s wealth comes from his stakes in Tesla and SpaceX, making his net worth highly sensitive to changes in the companies’ valuations. As a result, sharp swings in their share prices can add or wipe out tens of billions of dollars within days.
Despite the recent volatility, Musk remains comfortably ahead of every other billionaire in the world, with his fortune continuing to dwarf those of his closest rivals.
The latest rebound marks another dramatic chapter in Musk’s extraordinary rise, highlighting how quickly the fortunes of the world’s richest people can change when the market moves.
