Uganda’s Minister of Local Government, Balaam Barugahara, has pushed back against growing criticism of the Paul Kafeero DNA exercise, insisting the results should not be dismissed simply because some people disagree with them.
Speaking to journalists at the Media Centre, Balaam defended the credibility of the testing process and said the government entrusted the exercise to one of Uganda’s most reputable laboratories.

His response follows days of criticism on social media, where some members of the public and a section of Kafeero’s family have questioned the credibility of the findings.
Balaam urged those with concerns to pursue the appropriate channels instead of using social media to discredit the exercise. In his view, no one should cast doubt on the results without evidence.
On June 25, DNA results confirmed that only four of the 25 people tested were biological children of the late Kadongo Kamu legend.
The findings have since divided public opinion, with some accepting the outcome while others continue to challenge the process.
