After producing some of Uganda’s biggest musicians over the years, veteran producer Paddy Man says no artist has left a bigger impression on him in the recording studio than gospel singer Judith Babirye.
Speaking to YouTubers Shalom 256 and Frank Ntambi, Paddy Man praised Babirye’s natural ability, saying she needed very little time to record a song compared to many other artists.
According to the producer, while most musicians require several takes to perfect a recording, Babirye often completed hers in a single attempt.
Everyone handles themselves differently, but there are songs where Judith Babirye entered the studio, walked to the microphone and sang them in one take from start to finish. One of them is ‘Yesu Amanyi’
Paddy Man said that consistency is what separates Babirye from every artist he has produced throughout his career.
Although he declined to compare her with other musicians by name, saying such comparisons only invite unnecessary criticism, he stood by his view that Judith Babirye remains the most naturally gifted artist he has ever worked with.
