Jermaine Dupri Sues Sony Music for $18 Million Over Alleged Unpaid Royalties

Jermaine Dupri has taken Sony Music Entertainment to court, claiming the company owes him more than $18 million in unpaid royalties.

The legendary producer alleges Sony underreported earnings, failed to account for some royalties, and used misleading accounting practices throughout their decades-long business relationship.

The lawsuit names several high-profile projects involving Mariah Carey, Usher, Kris Kross, Xscape, Da Brat, Jagged Edge, Bow Wow, J-Kwon, and Bone Crusher.

Among the claims, Dupri says Sony still owes him more than $2.2 million from Kris Kross’ early albums. He also questions the company’s accounting records for Xscape, arguing they do not reflect the group’s platinum-selling success.

Dupri has asked the court to award him at least $18 million in damages, plus interest and legal costs. Sony has not commented publicly on the allegations.
