Vinka has revealed that Carol Nantongo is one of the few artists she considers a genuine friend in Uganda’s music industry. The Swangz Avenue star shared that while many people believe artists rarely build real friendships, she has maintained meaningful relationships both within and outside the entertainment business.
Speaking during an interview with Allan Cruz, Vinka was asked whether she has close friends in the industry, given the perception that many musicians are opportunistic and often struggle to maintain genuine relationships.
In response, she pointed to Carol Nantongo as a close friend, noting that she recently attended the singer’s baby shower.
I went to Carol Nantongo’s baby shower and she’s my friend. My problem is that my tight friends are the girls I went to school with, but many musicians are my friends. You might not see us, but they are.
Vinka explained that she deliberately keeps her friendships private instead of constantly posting photos and videos with fellow artists.
According to her, this has helped her avoid public fallouts that often arise when celebrities showcase their friendships online.
That’s why I greet all of them when I find them. Why would I bring people close and pretend to be friends and fall out? It means my approach is better.
