Abubaker Vincent Nende, the younger brother of the late Kadongo Kamu legend Paul Kafeero, has accused MC Mayor of mishandling Shs8 million raised during Bruno K‘s TikTok Live show, Ekiboozi, to support Paul Ssentongo, one of the claimants excluded after the Kafeero family’s DNA verification exercise.
Well-wishers contributed the money to help Ssentongo open a retail shop, but since he did not own a phone at the time, Bruno K reportedly transferred the funds to MC Mayor on his behalf.
Bruno K sent the money collected from the live stream to MC Mayor because Ssentongo had no phone at that moment.
The arrangement appeared straightforward until Ssentongo contacted Nende and said he had never received the money.
Instead of handing over the funds, MC Mayor allegedly took Ssentongo to another person’s shop, photographed him there, and created the impression that the fundraiser had achieved its goal.
Ssentongo called me and said his money had been stolen by MC Mayor. He took him to a certain shop and took pictures of him there, yet it was all lies. The shop belonged to someone else. They took advantage of the fact that Ssentongo is innocent and thought they would steal his money.
Nende says he reported the matter to the police, prompting officers to summon MC Mayor.
He adds that MC Mayor later mobilised relatives and friends and raised Shs6.6 million, leaving Shs1.4 million still outstanding.
He managed to call his family members and raised Shs6.6 million. He promised to clear the remaining Shs1.4 million on Monday.
Nende maintains that Shs1.4 million remains unpaid and says the fundraiser has yet to achieve the purpose supporters intended.
MC Mayor had not publicly responded to the allegations by the time of publication.
