Ataakulaba Akunyooma has earned the backing of Charles Peter Mayiga, with the Katikkiro of Buganda confirming that he will attend the July 31 concert at the Sheraton Hotel Kampala Gardens.

Mayiga welcomed the renewed appreciation for Kadongo Kamu, describing the genre as an important part of Buganda’s cultural identity and expressing his delight at seeing it reach new audiences once again.
He used the opportunity to caution musicians against songs centred on insults and personal attacks, arguing that artists should use their platforms to educate, inspire and promote unity.

Before wrapping up his remarks, Mayiga encouraged the Vunga Vitz group to keep pushing themselves creatively, reminding them that consistency and hard work are what sustain success.

Ataakulaba Akunyooma conert will bring together legendary Kadongo Kamu musicians in a celebration of Uganda’s traditional music, rich storytelling, and educative cultural poetry.
