Kapa Cat believes Uganda’s music industry has lost the competitive spirit that once kept fans entertained.
Speaking on Galaxy TV, the outspoken dancehall artist said many musicians have become too comfortable and no longer embrace friendly music battles that can generate excitement around their music.
She revealed that she once approached Karole Kasita with the idea of a music battle, but the singer declined the challenge.
I asked Karole Kasita for a music battle, but she said she was afraid and could not do it.
Kapa Cat said her proposal had nothing to do with creating conflict between artists.
Instead, she wanted to use the battle as a promotional tool to excite fans and draw attention to Ugandan music.
I explained that it was purely for promotion. Battles are good as long as they remain musical and entertaining.
Kapa Cat also named the only male artist she would hesitate to face in a music battle.
Of all the male artists in Uganda, Peter Miles is the only one I would fear battling, but I would still give it my best.
She argued that healthy competition has always helped keep the music industry vibrant and believes today’s artists should not shy away from friendly musical contests.
