Jamaican dancehall star Demarco has spoken fondly about his experiences in Uganda and across Africa, describing the continent as a place that transformed both his career and personal outlook.
Speaking during a TikTok Live session, the singer reminisced about his time in Uganda, where he performed and collaborated with Ugandan musician Peter Miles. Demarco enthusiastically declared that “Uganda is the place” before breaking into a rendition of their collaborative song, showing that his connection with the country remains strong years later.
The entertainer also expressed gratitude to African fans for the overwhelming support they have shown him throughout his career.
“Big up on all Africans. You guys gave me the most experience. Africa is really the motherland,” he said, crediting the continent with giving him some of the most memorable moments of his musical journey.
Demarco went on to describe Africa as unlike anywhere else in the world, saying everything from the soil to the air feels different.
He revealed that Africa holds a special place in his heart, adding that the continent played a major role in the success of his hit song I Love My Life.
According to the singer, within days of releasing the track, he noticed it had attracted nearly 10 million views—something he had never experienced before—and believes the love from African audiences was instrumental in making it a global success.
