Da Agent Explains Why Old Songs Make Viral Comebacks

Old songs have found a new lease on life in recent months, with TikTok introducing a new generation of listeners to classics many thought had already had their moment.

One of the biggest revival stories has been Kalifah AgaNaga‘s more than decade-old hit Nassanga, which returned to the spotlight after inspiring a viral dance challenge on the platform.

For Da Agent, that resurgence says more about the quality of those songs than it does about social media.

Speaking on Sanyuka Uncut, the rapper argued that songs only make successful comebacks because they were already great records when they first came out.

If you realize, the songs that make a comeback were already good songs back then. That is the fact. Today, some people make songs that simply follow the trend instead of creating songs that will stand the test of time.

Da Agent believes timeless music never truly disappears.

Instead, it waits for a new generation to discover it, while songs created to follow passing trends often fade as quickly as they rise.
