Ugandan singer Lydia Jazmine has no intention of dealing with the kind of last-minute drama that surrounded Karole Kasita‘s concert.
After rapper Feffe Bussi rehearsed for The Power Within but missed the show itself, Lydia says she has adopted a simple rule for her own headline concert: if you rehearse, you perform.
Speaking on Galaxy TV, the singer questioned why any artist would commit to rehearsals without intending to honour that commitment.
I saw that, and I do not know why it happened. That was so bad because why show up for rehearsals if you are not going to perform at the concert? The earlier you tell me, the better.
Lydia believes rehearsals for collaborative performances create expectations long before the concert begins.
Once fans see two artists preparing to perform together, they naturally expect to see them share the stage on concert night.
That is why she would rather adjust a collaborative performance in advance than scramble for solutions on the day of the concert.
If you are not going to come to the concert, I would rather prepare to perform the song alone. I will rehearse with the band and figure out how to perform it by myself.
To remove any doubt, Lydia plans to share rehearsal sessions ahead of The One & Only Concert, saying fans can trust that every artist they see rehearsing a collaboration with her will also appear on stage on September 4 at Lugogo Cricket Oval.
