Muhoozi’s son Ruhamya completes Officer Cadet Course at the UK’s Sandhurst Academy

The Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s son, Ruhamya Kainerugaba, has successfully completed the Officer Cadet Course at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in England.

Ruhamya, who serves in the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) with the rank of Private, has been undertaking officer training at the prestigious military academy located in Berkshire and Surrey.

The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst is the British Army’s premier officer training institution. It is renowned for developing military leaders through intensive leadership and tactical training rather than awarding academic qualifications. The academy is widely regarded as one of the world’s most respected military training institutions.

Gen. Muhoozi is also a Sandhurst graduate, having completed his officer training there in 2000. Ruhamya now follows in his father’s footsteps. He is also among a growing number of sons of East African leaders to train at the academy, including Lt. Ian Kagame, the son of Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame, who graduated as a Second Lieutenant in 2022.
