Artist Fik Gaza says he has no plans of legalising his relationship anytime soon, boldly declaring that he will only walk down the aisle when he turns 80.
The Banana hitmaker, real name Shafiq Jjingo, was responding to rumors that he is preparing to formalize his relationship.
Fik Gaza dismissed the reports as completely false, saying whoever started them was simply creating their own story.
The singer insists he is still too young to think about marriage and would rather spend years enjoying life, struggle a little, and only consider settling down when he is old.
I’m still young and I’ve never had dreams of legalizing any relationship. I will marry when I’m 80 years old. I struggle a little and pass away.
Fik Gaza also gave a rather unusual reason for pushing marriage into his 80s—he believes love comes with too much suffering and could eventually drive him crazy.
The reason why I plan to marry at 80 is because love is all about suffering. And I don’t want it to drive me crazy.
His comments are reminiscent of fellow singer A Pass, who once claimed he would only get married at 75, only to shock fans by recently holding a private marriage ceremony with his partner, Alicia.
A Pass later explained that his earlier remarks were deliberately meant to throw off people who were too curious about his love life, as well as what he described as the “enemies of progress.”
With A Pass already proving that such marriage deadlines can easily change, only time will tell whether Fik Gaza will stick to his 80-year marriage plan or eventually surprise his fans too.
