Singer Nina Roz, real name Nina Kakunda, has urged the youth to be more cautious about individuals she says are misusing social media to mislead the public, distort information and belittle others.
The singer called on young people to remain keen and observant when consuming or sharing content online, arguing that some individuals deliberately use social media to confuse the public and manipulate statements made by public figures.
Nina Roz further appealed to social media users to embrace truth, respect and meaningful engagement, saying the platforms should be used to benefit communities rather than promote trolling and unnecessary attacks.
There is a section of individuals who want to spoil and use social media the wrong way. But I urge the fellow youth to be keen and observant of such individuals with such characters. I beg we be very useful and truthful in this nation. We run social media, so I call upon everyone to use it meaningfully. We should avoid those who want to use it to troll and belittle others.
Nina made the remarks while responding to controversy surrounding her recent appearance at Lydia Jazmine’s concert preparations, where she revealed that she had purchased tickets for NUP music fans who would attend Jazmine’s highly anticipated show scheduled for September 4 at Lugogo Cricket Oval.
Following the confusion that had stared spreading, the singer cleared the air and urged social media users to focus on responsible and truthful use of the platforms rather than turning them into spaces for spreading false information.
