Ugandan singer A Pass is already thinking beyond his music career, reflecting on how he wants to be remembered long after he is gone.
For the outspoken singer, the answer begins with authenticity. He believes that remaining unapologetically himself, while being confident and vocal about his views, has been central to the identity he has built throughout his career.
“People will remember me for being me. For being confident and outspoken,” A Pass said during a TikTok Live session.
But personality is only one part of the mark he hopes to leave.
A Pass also sees his music as a lasting record of his existence, believing the songs he has created can continue to introduce him to audiences even when he is no longer here to perform them.
He pointed to Turn Up D’ Vibe, his collaboration with fellow singer Ykee Benda, as a song that captures this philosophy.
In the song, A Pass sings: “We once existed and will always be talked about and remembered like those that made a difference.”
For him, the line goes beyond songwriting. It reflects his belief that an artist’s contribution can outlive the person who created it.
“I feel like people remember me for making a difference and impacting their lives in so many ways,” A Pass said.
The singer’s reflection comes at a point in his career where his identity has become as recognisable as his music. From his outspoken personality to his willingness to experiment creatively, A Pass has built a career around refusing to fit neatly into expectations.
Ultimately, he appears less interested in being remembered simply as a musician than as someone who left an impression.
