Usher has laughed off a bizarre internet theory claiming that he sent a lookalike to perform in his place during a recent concert.
The speculation began after his August 7 show at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, where he performed as part of the Raymond & Brown Tour with Chris Brown.
Videos from the concert quickly sent some fans into detective mode.
They questioned the performer’s appearance and pointed to differences they believed they could see in his face, movements and tattoos.
Before long, a simple debate over Usher’s appearance turned into something much stranger, with some social media users suggesting that a clone or body double had taken over the stage.
Usher eventually saw the claims and decided to play along rather than give the theory a serious response.
Y’all are funny… clone? They can’t clone this??
The singer then took another swipe at the idea, telling fans that “AI ain’t that advanced.”
There is no evidence that Usher used a body double or clone during the performance.
The bizarre speculation has nevertheless given his tour another viral moment, with concert footage continuing to fuel debate across social media.
Usher and Chris Brown are currently travelling across North America for the Raymond & Brown Tour, which is scheduled to continue through December.
