While on Susan Makula Bujjingo’s Makula Show, Levixone wept uncontrollably as he narrated how he considered quitting gospel music when his friend Mac Elvis died in 2013.
Aged just 25 years old, Mac Elvis, real name Mark Elvis Mutalya, died on 18th October 2013 after drowning in a swimming pool while on a trip in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
He was one of the biggest music prospects in Uganda, and his music had already gained him fame across the region.
His death robbed him of such a bright career and also had Levixone considering quitting gospel music out of the frustration and pain it caused.
Levixone broke down and cried as he remembered the prayer he made to God, asking Him to bring back his best friend, but it was not possible.
I almost quit gospel music because of Mac Elvis. I prayed to God and told him, “We have suffered, we don’t have food, living a bad life, yet we are still serving you. Bring back Mac Elvis; it will show people that you are mighty and a working God.” Those are the things I was telling God.
