Just a week after Ray G set social media ablaze with a massive turnout at Kololo Airstrip, King Saha arrived at the very same venue and, judging by the sheer size of the crowd, raised the bar even higher. The highly anticipated Tugende E Kololo concert on Friday night transformed the vast grounds into an endless sea of people, drawing thousands to one of the biggest live music arenas in the country.
The show came amid a heated debate sparked by Ray G’s promoter, Abbey Musinguzi, popularly known as Abtex, who had boldly claimed that no artist from central Uganda could fill Kololo Airstrip the way the Western Uganda star had done. Whether Abtex’s provocation served as the ultimate rallying cry for central region music lovers or King Saha simply demonstrated his undeniable star power, Friday night delivered an indisputable response.
By 9:00 PM, crowds were still pouring in. Long, winding queues snaked along Wampewo Avenue, while another massive line stretched from Upper Kololo Terrace toward the main junction. At the gates, security personnel worked tirelessly to manage the overwhelming influx as concertgoers pushed to secure their spot inside.
Once inside, the vast scale of the turn-up became clear. The colossal stage erected by Fenon Events was visually stunning, but the massive audience meant fans toward the back struggled to see the action. Reading the room, production guru Steve Jean and his team quickly put up gigantic LED screens, ensuring everyone from the stands to the farthest edges of the grounds enjoyed a clear view.
King Saha delivered a masterclass performance divided into three crisp 40-minute sets, turning the night into a victory lap for his decades-long career. He kicked off the night in a bold green camouflage outfit, transitioned into an all-white ensemble for his second set, and closed out the marathon show in a head-turning, glittering red costume.
His hit-heavy setlist kept the energy at a fever pitch throughout the night. Moving effortlessly through his rich catalog, Saha dished out timeless anthems including Biri Biri, Mulirwana, Zakayo, Gundeze, Very Well, Ebisera Ebyo, Kamwanyi, Pretty Pretty, Yamba, Sala Pulesa, Nakyakala, and Batuleke.
The high-octane energy never dipped, thanks to an impressive lineup of guest performers who held down the stage during Saha’s costume changes. A star-studded parade of artists—including Roden Y, Feffe Bussi, King Michael, Crysto Panda, Spice Diana, Fik Fameica, Big Eye, Pastor Wilson Bugembe, and Mickie Wine—turned up in full force to support the main man.
