King Saha’s big stage couldn’t take Ray G’s Kololo crown – Abitex – Sqoop

The debate over who delivered the bigger concert at Kololo Independence Grounds has taken another turn, with events promoter Abbey Musinguzi, popularly known as Abtex, insisting that Ray G still holds the upper hand over King Saha.

Abitex, who was behind Ray G’s concert at the same venue, says the comparison should not be based on how impressive an artiste’s stage looks or how many people turned up, but on what the show actually achieved commercially.

He dismissed Saha’s elaborate stage as an attempt to compete with Ray G visually, arguing that a large stage on its own does not determine the success of a concert.

“Saha wanted a big stage just to outcompete Ray G, but it was meaningless. Stage is all about decoration,” Abitex said.

According to the promoter, the bigger question should be how much money the concert generated. He argues that Saha’s decision to keep some ticket prices low and allow free entry for some fans makes it difficult to establish whether the concert delivered the kind of commercial returns associated with a major Kololo show.

For that reason, he continues to refer to Ray G as the “king of Kololo”, maintaining that his concert proved its strength through its commercial performance rather than simply its production.

He also brought politics into the debate, questioning Saha’s decision to hold the concert at Kololo while maintaining an opposition-leaning political position.

He argued that there is an apparent contradiction in opposing government while using a government-managed facility and benefiting from services such as security during a major public event.

“I don’t think even his leader Robert Kyagulanyi is happy with this,” Abitex said.

The promoter’s latest remarks add another layer to an increasingly public comparison between the two artistes, whose fan bases have repeatedly debated their respective achievements.

While Ray G’s Kololo concert was organised by Abitex, Saha later took the same route with his own show, creating a natural basis for comparisons between the two events.

However, the rivalry has increasingly moved beyond music, with some online discussions taking on tribal undertones.

This has led some social media users to urge Abitex to stop repeatedly putting the two artistes against each other, arguing that the comparisons risk creating unnecessary divisions among their fans.

For now, however, Abitex remains firm in his assessment: the size of the stage may create a spectacle, but for him, the money made from the show is what determines who truly conquered Kololo.
