Veteran dramatist Dr. Bbosa, real name Sam Bagenda, has weighed in on whether couples should involve relatives in their relationships or marriages, advising partners to keep third parties out of their unions.
According to Dr. Bbosa, involving relatives in a relationship is not ideal because by the time two people decide to date, they have already discussed several issues, agreed on common goals, and identified what unites them.
The ideal thing, I believe, is that one shouldn’t involve their relatives in their relationship or marriage. Because it is assumed that when two people start dating, that implies that they have agreed on many issues.
Dr. Bbosa acknowledges that people can change their character and behaviour, particularly after getting married.
However, he believes that such changes should be handled by the couple rather than inviting relatives or other outsiders into their relationship.
It’s true that people change, especially after taking the marriage vows, and sometimes the behaviours change. Now that is when you have to stick together.
He points to marriage vows, particularly those made in church, as a reminder that couples are expected to remain committed to each other through both good and difficult times.
Dr. Bbosa further argues that involving third parties can negatively affect a relationship, as relatives or friends may sometimes worsen existing disagreements or even become part of the problem.
For him, couples should therefore focus on resolving their differences together and protecting the relationship rather than allowing outsiders to influence their union.
