Singer Stecia Mayanja has made it clear that she has no plans of revisiting a past relationship, saying she has moved on and is focused on raising her children and building her current marriage.
Speaking about her past with singer Ronald Kitaka, Stecia said she believes people should accept when a relationship has ended rather than repeatedly returning to former partners.
“We are just raising our children. It is not good to keep going back to your exes. If I leave someone, I leave for good,” she said.
Stecia noted that relationships can sometimes make people recognise each other’s value only after they have moved on, but said that should not be a reason to rekindle a relationship.
She said she still respects Kitaka, but believes they have reached a point in their lives where they should focus on their separate paths.
“Kitaka got me at a very young age of 22. Right now I’m 41; we cannot still be on the same thing,” she said.
The singer also revealed that she is happily married, saying her present relationship is one she values and does not want to compromise by repeatedly discussing her past.
“I got my own man and I’m doing well. My husband will be bitter with me for speaking about my past. I’m happily married. I’m content and I do not want to annoy my husband,” she said.
Stecia also used her experience to urge men to recognise the value of their partners while they are still together rather than attempting to reconnect after the relationship has ended.
“Men should learn how to handle women; not waking up after we have moved on,” she said.
For Stecia, the message appears straightforward: while the past may remain part of her story, she is no longer interested in living in it.
