Rickman Manrick once named Express FC among the clubs he would rather not play for.
Now, he is wearing their jersey.
The singer and radio presenter has returned to football after joining Express FC, a move that carries a touch of irony for anyone who remembers his interview earlier this year.
While speaking about his desire to play in Uganda’s top flight on The Ugandan Talk Boy Show, Rickman said he would welcome the opportunity to join almost any club.
Then he named the exceptions.
I would love to play in the Super League. Any team, but not Express, Vipers, or Villa, because those are our [KCCA] biggest rivals… but I am just kidding.
Express FC, it seems, has changed his mind.
Rickman has since shared photos of himself in the club’s jersey, confirming his return to the game after years away from competitive football.

The move also brings him back to a dream he has spoken about more than once.
In previous interviews, Rickman made it clear that football has always held a special place in his life, even as music took him in a completely different direction.
He had spoken openly about wanting a chance to play in Uganda’s top flight again, with KCCA FC initially standing out as his preferred destination.
That opportunity, however, has arrived through one of the very clubs he once jokingly ruled out.
From “not Express” to an Express FC jersey, Rickman’s football return has taken an ironic turn.
